Introduction I've been growing irises on and off since I was a teen in the 1970s. I'm an enthusiastic hybridizer and collector of bearded and aril species. I presently garden in northern New Mexico, in USDA zone 6, at an altitude of 6000 feet, where the average rainfall in 10 inches per year (but most years is less). I've served as Yearbook editor and president of the Aril Society International, and Portfolio editor and president of the Dwarf Iris Society.
