Introduction My husband of 49 years and I raised irises for about 45 years. We planted about 1/2 acre of ground with tall bearded irises. The peak count of our cultivars was 584 different irises. Neal did most of the physical labor while I planned, organized, ordered and mapped the flowers. The 1st of May until the first or middle of June was usually when our irises bloomed. The aroma was heavenly and the delicate looking blooms looked ethereal and seemed too pretty to be real even when we were close enough to touch. Those are cherished memories. My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in December of 2010 at the young age of 64. For the next seven years I took care of him until he passed away December 24, 2017. His passing and my two broken arms, caused by separate falls, necessitated selling the acreage and our home and irises. So I no longer raise irises but I have thousands upon thousands of photographs that we took that I could share on this blog. I also have 45 years of iris memories to share.
Interests Irises, piecing quilts, making stained glass, oil painting, decorating, laying tile and other finish work on building a home.
