Introduction Don's practice is devoted to trial, appellate and post-appellate representation of the criminally accused. He has represented defendants facing the death penalty in state and federal courts and Don has represented death row inmates in conjunction with the Southern Prisoners' Defense League, in state and federal proceedings. Don also served as a part-time Rochester City Court law clerk, is a past trustee of the Monroe County Bar Association and past chair of its Criminal Justice Section. Don is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars on criminal trial and appellate practice. Don has worked independently and together with the Innocence Project to obtain the release and exoneration of wrongfully convicted defendants and has also assisted clients in recovering damages based on wrongful convictions. In 2005, Don recieved the New York State Bar Association's Charles F. Crimi Memorial Award and the Monroe County Bar Association's Charles F. Crimi Memorial Award, recognizing his commitment to the legal needs of the poor and disadvantaged.
