Introduction For over thirty years, Brian has represented persons accused of crimes. As First Assistant Monroe County Public Defender and as head of the Appeals Bureau, Brian has written or supervised the perfection of more than four thousand criminal and family court appeals. He has argued appeals in numerous courts, including the New York Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Additionally, he has been counsel representing clients at trials, including murder trials, and in post conviction motions and collateral proceedings. Brian is Past President of the Rochester Chapter of American Inns of Court and a former Trustee of the Monroe County Bar Association. He has twice served as Chair of the Criminal Justice Section of the Monroe County Bar Association. Brian is the co-author of the chapter on Appeals in Criminal Cases in the New York Bar Association’s Criminal Practice Handbook. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He has been awarded both the Monroe County Bar Association’s Charles F. Crimi Award and the Nathaniel Award in recognition of skill and commitment to the legal needs of the indigent.
