Introduction | I am a Jamaican who writes fiction and non-fiction. I graduated from the University of the West Indies and taught English and history for much of my career. I live in Kingston, and frequently travel to North America. I have also visited several islands in the Caribbean as well as Mexico and Ecuador. In addition, I worked for many years in Britain and in Ghana. Living in Africa helped me to identify the roots of proverbs I learned as a child when I first fell in love with these sayings. I am the author of the cookbook Delicious Jamaica! Vegetarian Cuisine (Book Publishing Company, 1996). Askhari Johnson Hodari (of Birmingham, Alabama) and I are joint authors of Lifelines: The Black Book of Proverbs (Random House, 2009) NOTE: Profile photo is taken by Sabriya Simon |
