Gender Male
Industry Architecture
Occupation urban designer/landscape architect

Introduction I started this blog as part of my goal to draw at least three times a week. I wanted to improve and, of course, practice is a large part of learning. I think my drawing is improving a bit, but now I draw almost every day for the pleasure of it and being 'in the zone'. The blog has had visits from all over the world and I also follow other Urban Sketchers from many countries. I really enjoy it when someone leaves a comment, or signs up as a follower as it lets me know that I'm not just "talking to myself".
Interests Sketching subjects include public places and cultural landscapes, boats of any description and construction equipment. I am a serial renovator, sailer and skier - married and the father of two very active teenaged boys.
Favorite Movies Master and Commander, The Wire, Rome (HBO)
Favorite Music I listen to an eclectic range but the main categories are alternative and blues.
Favorite Books Still Life with Woodpecker and Once a great Notion still resonate 30 years after first reading. I love historical fiction and devoured the Patrick O'Brien and various Bernard Cornwell series. I read a fair bit of military history - Anthony Beevor and Tim Cook are high on my list. I love a mystery, i.e. Henning Mankell, Ian Rankin and had great fun with the Bancock detective stories of John Burdette and recently my step brother introduced me to Mark Spragg, which I adored. 'Can't go wrong' list includes, John Irving, Rohinton Mistry, John Steinbeck, Hemmingway, Dennis Lehane.
