Introduction Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats ― Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows
I have been boating since I was a kid. My dad came from a family of boaters and we spent our summers and many weekends in the spring and fall boating on the Rappahannock River and the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.
Since then, my boating experience has included both power boating and sailing in the Caribbean, and US inland and coastal waters. I am a USCG licensed captain and past commander of the Atlanta Sail and Power Squadron.
In my opinion, the true boating experience is more than just going out for a cruise on weekends and holidays but also learning how to care for, fix and know your vessel. I use my blog to share my boating life experiences.
I currently own a 34 foot Wellcraft and a pair of kayaks. In my opinion, it really does not matter what kind of boat you have. If it enables you to get on the water, your life is that much better for it.
