Introduction | I'm the curator of 'Tirzah Garwood: Beyond Ravilious', which runs at Dulwich Picture Gallery from November 2024 to May 2025. I've been a fan of Garwood's uncanny paintings and collages, sharp-eyed wood engravings and decorative marbled papers for many years, and was able to feature a selection in the 2018 exhibition 'In Relation: Nine Couples who Transformed Modern British Art' at RWA Bristol. The Dulwich show is my third for them, following previous exhibitions devoted to Eric Ravilious (2015) and Edward Bawden (2018). Garwood's work is probably less familiar, and I can't wait for people to see it! For previous books and exhibitions please see the appropriate pages. Likewise currently available lectures. |
