| Introduction | Jan is a New Jersey child, raised from middle through high school in South Florida, who has settled in North Florida, safe from pythons, with her family. She finds the funny in most things, except when she is late meeting a deadline. Her Florida travel guides are well-received journeys away from the crowds to off- beat paths. For children, Jan wrote SHE SANG PROMISE, about Betty Mae Tiger Jumper, of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. It won the gold medal, Florida Book Awards. The book is an ALA/Amelia Bloomer List Top Ten book & it is also a National Council on the Social Studies top book for young people, among other honors.
